Expensive Beer is Good Too

Check out bakedandbrewed.blogspot.com.

But that doesn't stop me from drinking Coors Light tallboys pretty frequently.

Everybody loves a BJ

BJs Restaurant Brewhouse has good food and really good beer. I think I paid $4.75 per pint, but I had three, so it was a good deal either way. Since I was eating pizza and salad, I stuck with the Blonde because I knew I was going to be full and I wanted to have a couple drinks to celebrate it being Saturday night. The Blonde has a lot of flavor for being their lightest beer. I also had a sip of the Jerryburst - a mix of cherry sider and their Red Ale. It was very sweet.

Ah yes, Coors Light at 8:30 in the morning is a beautiful thing. That's the reason to play golf. Though when it's 90 degrees out, the beer gets warm pretty fast. Luckily, a cooler will keep the beer cooling. After a quick round, it was time for for lunch and the best beer in the world - Shiner Bock. Creamy and smooth, its dark color hides the fact that it can be drunk fast without much aftertaste - a lot like good American lagers, though not so watery. I couldn't recommend it more. And at Zeke's in Montrose, which has very delicious BBQ, the pints of it on tap are just $5. I liked it so much I only had one. Yeah, one.

British and Mountain People

After two Miller Chills it was time for something more, uh, substantial. So I braved the Valley heat and the packed crowd at Fox and Hounds. Some lovely company and chips made it bearable, as did three Newcastles. Cheap? $5 pints. Yes, I chugged the last of them beer-horns style - to the satisfaction of the crowd. Then it was time to go home. At home I had two standbys, Coors Light. Now, Coors Light is brewed by the devil or whatever. But it's low in calories and it is very inexpensive. I will drink a gallon of them at some point in the near future and report back on how that goes.

Save money, lose weight

So, I can appreciate a "good" beer like some beer snobs, but what has gotten me through high school, college and a regimented weight-loss program is inexpensive beer. This is where I'll talk in detail about how delicious inexpensive beer can be.

Tonight I am drinking Miller Chill. It's a new light beer that's based on the Mexican michelada drink - beer, lime juice, salt, hot sauce and worchester sauce. The flavor is slightly fruity, as expected, and it's not particularly carbonated, so it is very easy to drink fast. I'll have to have the rest of the six pack before I can make a complete assessment.
